Others May, You May Not

The King Of Beer

The King Of Beer

Are there activities, harmless on the surface, that others may do, but you may not?

There are, even if you can’t recognize them.

Tonight, there’s a get together of old friends, celebrating a recent wedding.

It’s BYOB, and some will drink adult beverages and loosen up their inhibitions and enjoy the buzz that alcohol so reliably brings.

Which always reminds me of one of life’s greatest lessons: Others may, you may not.

You Are Insignificant

View this if you want to see how incredibly insignificant we are in the universe.

If you are already crystal clear, save yourself the six minutes it’ll take to watch (and be reminded).

Peace, the Fruit of Small Surrenders

Peace, the Fruit of Small Surrenders

“Small surrenders make up a stained glass mosaic.” — unknown

As you read this, on this day (Sunday), what comes to mind for you?

There are many possible directions and interpretations.

It reminds me, at first glance, the daily surrender necessary to overcome addiction.

One day at a time.

A small surrender to desire.

And sometimes in one day, there are many small surrenders.

And then tomorrow, begin again.

Repeat until death.

Everything Is A Miracle

Einstein Was Correct

Einstein Was Correct

“There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.”Albert Einstein

Attending Kevin’s funeral on Christmas Eve, this quote from Albert Einstein was printed on the cover of the funeral bulletin.

Have you ever been struck with a profound thought or observation, when you least expect it?  When it’s presented in such a deceptively simple format – in this case, printed text?

One more thing struck me from attending Kevin’s funeral, but not until this very moment.  Kevin’s son, maybe three years old, was there, of course. Estimating there were 300 people attending.

But the only other child I saw was the one in my arms most of the Mass.

Stewardship On a Billboard?

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

Passing through Atlanta airport the other day, and a hallway billboard caught my eye. It wasn’t Jane Goddall or the chimp that made me want to stop and look, it was the word – STEWARDSHIP – that did it.

If you visit jeffnoel.org, and don’t know, there are four other blogs I write daily.  Over on the upper right corner is Blogroll, which has a one click function to the others.

Anyway, it dawned on me, humbly if I might add, there aren’t too many five-a-day bloggers, so it’s a working name for now.

Five-a-day blogger.

Sounds funny.  And crazy.  And slightly boastful.  Oh well, my apologies.

So here’s another crazy thing, in writing this post, it dawned on me that I should mention, just yesterday, I coined also myself the “One-take-You Tube video” guy.

Back to today’s story on Stewardship.  Here’s the one-take-You Tube video, as a result of stopping to pause:

Imagine

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Imagine.

Did you click on it?

Did you listen to it?

I mean, did you listen to the words?

Every word?

Some of you did, I’m certain…

…I’m not the only one….

What Was Your Answer?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Yesterday’s post asked, “What do followers want”?

What was your answer?  Mine was simple.

Passion!

Followers want a leader who has passion.  Passion to make a difference.  Passion to do good. For other people.

Ever wonder why people do the things they do?  Ever wonder why you do the things you do?  I do.  Tomorrow, I’ll share my “why?”.  Let’s compare again.  Not comparing to see who’s right or wrong, simply an exercise to get us thinking.

“An unexamined life is not worth living”. Why are you here?  What’s your purpose?  Carpe diem.
