Happy birthday to me…

Today is the 56th anniversary of my birth.

Four more years, God willing, to accomplish everything i want to do in life.

What’s your deadline?

You do have one, right?

Of course i know no one knows.

But that’s just an excuse for not living with focus and discipline.

This message isn’t spam, even if it feels unwanted.

Praying for someone we’ve never met

Husband and wife hug at airport
Photo: Chapin Noel, August 2009 at Orlando International Airport.

Praying for someone we’ve never met.

A fatal heart attack is never planned.

When it happens we are stunned and saddened. It happened to a client’s colleague the night before.

Moments before falling asleep last night, i pictured what it would feel like to no longer have Cheryl walking around in our home.

Moving forward, that is the reality for someone i’ve never met.

He looked like Jesus on the Cross as he lie in bed

jeff noel quote
(photo and art: Pati Hyun. Quote from Jack’s son.)

Many of us for various reasons don’t see our parents much. In the 20 years from my 21st birthday to the 41st, i rarely saw my Dad.

On April 10, 2001, Jack Noel took his final breath.

It was somewhere around 1:18am at the York Country Hospital and Home.

It was Good Friday.

He looked like Jesus on the Cross as he lie in bed.

How do i know?

Because God provided the extraordinary opportunity to be there in person.

When someone dies what do we say?

Infamous Magic Kingdom Honey Bucket
The Honey Bucket (for Horse excrement). A metaphor for our lives.

When someone dies what do we say?

  • So sorry.
  • Sorry for your loss.
  • Praying for you and your family.

What if:

  • You were so lucky to have her in your life.
  • What a blessing he must have been.
  • Treasure the wisdom you gained.

We are all going to die. Maybe the best defense is a good offense:

Live like you mean it.

Death isn’t what we fear. We fear that we waited too long to start living fully in our mundane, routine, daily-grind moments.
