Resident Sand Hill Cranes

Sand Hill Crane
There are several pairs of Sand Hill Cranes that use our yard daily. Never gets old.

Having local wildlife in our yard daily/nightly is a nice perk.

  • Mockingbirds (Florida State bird)
  • Bluejays and Cardinals
  • Red Tail Hawks
  • Occasional Owls and Bald Eagles
  • Split Tailed Kite (bird of prey)
  • Bob Cats
  • Coyotes
  • Raccoons
  • Opossums
  • Armadillos
  • Florida Black Racers (snake)
  • A gazillion types of bugs

McDonald Creek hike. One day before the 30-mile roundtrip bicycle trek, with 3,400′ elevation gain.

In 10 days, we had a day, maybe two that were decently dry and warm. The eight-mile roundtrip hike along McDonald Creek was the best weather day.
