Car Church

Car odometer
Since the 2014 Disney retirement, i rarely drive. The car is 22 years old. The past 10 years have greatly skewed the average annual mileage.

Told George the manager that i wanted his car-repair location to be in my car church.

A good night’s sleep helps me stay positive and find the blessings in every adversity.

Eye spy Magic

Inside the ‘YAG procedure” room.

Brought a pocket full of Pixie Dust. Started with five Mickey Mouse figurines. Gave one to Dr Callaway. Gave another to Janis. Janis conducted a thorough pre-procedure evaluation. Dr Callaway confirmed and validated Janis’s findings. Then Dr Shumski performed the YAG laser procedure. It was over in about one minute.

While waiting at the check out desk to pay any health insurance deductible, Magic happened.

Had just walked 40 feet from the procedure room to the lobby.

There was a short lull at the desk so i removed my glasses.

Covered the right eye.

Almost started to cry.

With what i saw.

Serving is worship

Serving is worship.

But ‘worship’ isn’t necessarily serving.

Sitting in a pew at Church is a passive activity. The congregation is being served by the Priest. The congregation is not particularly focused on others during Mass.

Parishioners are highly likely to be thinking about serving others. But like all activities in life, we do not have time to do them all. So serving others is more like a wish or desire than an actual behavior.

The road to heck is paved with good intentions.

And so, we drive home after Mass and get back into our daily survival mode.

There’s a highly overlooked habit that you can master. And if you don’t think you can master it, perhaps you can be very good at it.

Mostly invisible or imperceptible by others, focus on these types of behaviors…

Serving others (and yourself) with patience, forgiveness, generosity, kindness, hope…this is the emotional DNA that makes life blossom.

No one really sees pollen and how it gets to a plant, but it does, prolifically.

As i always say, “Every step is Church”.

Makes sense then to think (and believe) that every step is serving.

Wow factor

Happy birthday message carved into wet concrete
The concrete installer/owner knows how long he has before this becomes permanent.

In preparation for an upcoming road trip, which we returned from yesterday, was prepping the WordPress Dashboard with the basics for the two days away from home.

Have always used multiple devices to blog on.

MacBook. iPhone. iPad.

When you move across devices and do not refresh your screens, you may start out on a blog that looks virgin, but is actually finished.

That’s what happened.

Wrote the five posts on the iPhone but never refreshed the Mac before i started.

As they say, “And so it goes.”

Never seen before

18-second video: Have never seen more than two at once. Ever.
A Disney couple receiving their 10-years of service awards
We had a grass driveway three years before this photo was taken — all the way up to today, Summer 2023.

The concrete contractor is a referral from a neighbor. The neighbor had a friend who owed him a favor. The neighbor’s request of his friend was to get the contractor to do our neighbor’s large driveway project.

The contractor doesn’t generally do work in Orange County.

Why?

Because he doesn’t live in Orange County.

Our neighbor’s friend succeeded.

We are impressed by the neighbor’s finished product and when it “suddenly, after 30+ years” became apparent we want a concrete driveway, well guess what?
