We fight over ownership

Red pouch label Going The Extra Inch tool kit
The Keynote is a month away. Had a client call with the conference decision makers and organizers. They had seen the TED talk, “Why going the extra mile is a flawed concept, and what to do instead.“

What if we over-focused on fighting for what we agree on?

i didn’t invent exceeding expectations.

Yet as far as i know, my claim to fame is making “Go The Extra Inch” a household name.

At this point in my career it doesn’t matter where the phrase came from.

That is peace.

That is contentment.

Small talk, holiday version, spirit

Bob Dylan movie screenshot
Became a Dylan fan a few years ago. We listened to “Blood on the Tracks” album descending from Sperry Chalet. This was the first time i ever played music while hiking in Glacier. Ps. Played from iPhone speaker, tucked in my back pocket.

A complete unknown.

Reminds me of the Nativity.

Some Shepard boy is born. Literally no one knows about it.

Until later.

A complete unknown.

A nobody.

On a bed of straw.

The “Gold” in the photos i’m transferring to iCloud are opening up a photographic Pandora’s box. Yee-haa!

Nearly a dozen external hard drives sitting in a closet file-cabinet’s bottom drawer.

Photos dating back to 2005 from the camera above.

This is gonna get juicy.

Celebrate everyday

Another random photo from many years ago.

Keep it simple.

Celebrate.

You are alive

Celebrate.

Every.

Day.

Overfocusing with your spirit

Pixar UP small plastic character figurines
The heart-shaped image on the rock was spotted “upside down” as we hiked down from Sperry Chalet. A dime would cover the heart. How did Cheryl spot it as we descended 3,400′ over 6.5 miles? Why did i decide 100′ past this point to turn around, go back to find it again, and stage Eliie and Carl from Pixar’s UP?

Over-focusing is a divine opportunity and privilege.

Over-focusing is paying attention to details others under-manage or ignore.

When you over-manage (over-focus), you look at opportunities people deem unimportant, unprofitable, and stupid.

What would happen to your quality of emotional life if you could be a world-class forgiver? A world-class surrenderer? A world-class gratitude-practitioner?
