Took six years

two people posing at Magic Kingdom
While Tim was helping Carol take a photo of Tim and me, i snapped this one.
two people posing at Magic Kingdom
Carol finally got the pic Tim was hoping for. Tim then got Carol into Magic Kingdom. And i walked to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and bicycled home.

Took six years to meet in person.

Tim worked at (Epcot’s) Canada in 2002.

We connected online six years ago.

He wanted to thank me in person for ‘changing his life’ personally and professionally.

Humbled.

Grateful.

Happy.

Note: We rode Haunted Mansion and Small World together.

Context neutral insights

What forgiveness does for our spirit, is what food does for our appetite, what water does for our thirst.

Happy present January moment

6-second video: Biked to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Locked my bicycle to the fence across from Space Mountain (and Tron). Walked across World Drive to Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

A mid-day Dole Whip in Adventureland never hurt anyone.

i never want Lee Cockerell to forget how much he influenced my life.

Dan Cockerell, Lee’s son, was an unintentional ice-breaker for Lee and me. Dan was a Guest Speaker at Disney Institute when i was the “SME” (Subject Matter Expert) for Disney’s Approach to Leadership Excellence.

Lee, many years later, introduced me to Jody Maberry.

Jody helped me record 100 podcast episodes of “If Disney Ran Your Life’.

In Disney’s spirit

Disney leaders at a January 2025 reunion
L-R: Rick Allen, the organizer. Kim and Sheryl.

Working (serving) in Disney Leadership was (is) a heaven and hell juxtaposition.

Heaven is in the Disney Mission to serve.

Hell is in the work and sacrifice it often takes to operate at the highest level all day, every day, day after day, for an entire career.

And like my prolific daily blogging, there is never a day off.

Heaven is in the team that works together to create Magic.

Hell is in the relentless public expectation for ‘perfection’.

Ps. Thank goodness for the concept of Onstage and Backstage.

Disney retired and active

Disney leadership reunion
Last night at Celebration’s Town Tavern. Mostly Resort executives, present and retired.

Retired Disney.

Active Disney.

Executive, senior, middle, and front line.

Doesn’t matter.

Everyone is cut from the same cloth.

The cloth of Walt Disney excellence.
