Waking up in your own bed, spirit

Small parking lot
Brisbane International Airport rental car return, 6:33am.

Since my two retina tears and eight months of left-eye blindness, starting each day on my knees took a sabbatical.

Why?

Perhaps the mornings had distractions and challenges that never before existed.

Perhaps i just innocently skipped one morning, which inadvertently led to a second morning. And perhaps, before i knew it, it had morphed into an ‘only-seldom’ ritual.

Daily, without skipping a day, is the standard.

We sleep daily.

We eat daily.

We wake up daily.

How one-daily-morning-minute on my knees became elusive is a mystery.

Recommitted to this daily habit the morning we left Alex Head, Australia.

Spirit in the sky

That 1970 song, Spirit in the Sky, just popped into my head.

Perfect metaphor for our next 36 hours.

Final 24 hours in Australia, spirit

two small toy figurines on a blue chair
This is a giant beach chair. Bluey and Roo also had tickets to yesterday’s ‘graduation ceremony’.
8-second video: Simply a “We were there” video.
Parents with college graduate
A bunch of various pics ensures a couple good ones will surface.
Two adults in front of a large silver structure
As a lifetime rule, i take 10-15 photos to get one good one.
College graduate, frowning at a plastic toy figurine
He’s frowning because Bluey’s nose is noticeably worn.
closeup of a toy Bluey figurine
Two yellow spots do not belong on Bluey’s nose. i get used to seeing it so often that i no longer see it. Chapin saw it immediately.

Reflecting on the past three weeks and the next 24 hours, this is a dominating spiritual thought….

Patience is strength.

To have strong patience is to have kind patience.

Kindness is a virtue.

Treat others right.

Treat yourself right.

Surfer’s Heaven?

surfboard safety signs and rules
Creative presentation. It would be easy to hurt yourself or other surfers given the rocky shore.

All sorts of (board) flavors.

Perhaps this is ‘plain vanilla’.

The bottom right welcome mat is our Apartment lobby entrance. Yes, it’s that close.

Passion is difficult to hide.

Three Winter Nights

Applied yesterday. Too many others ahead of us so we got the expected ‘rejection notice’.

We have three more nights in Australia.

It’s Winter here.

We will miss Australia and our opportunity to live vicariously through our ‘newly-minted’ college graduate son, in another country.
