How spiritual will 2018 Glacier trip #5 be?

The Cottages at Glacier
Staying in two of these for a total of four days. The Cottages at Glacier are adjacent to Glacier’s East entrance. Arrival in T-minus 8 days.

How spiritual will 2018 Glacier trip #5 be?

And, does a spiritual experience elevate our work?

The seven-night trip will involve six different lodging reservations. Only once do we spend two consecutive nights in the same place.

The Lake McDonald Cabin i reserved isn’t an option this trip due to forest fires and mandatory evacuations.

Bottom line, the west side access to Logan Pass is closed.

It would be a three-hour one-way trip from the Cabin to Logan Pass.

Imagine six hours round trip car travel just to get to a trailhead to hike.

Imagine all the lost writing time due to the exorbitant time spent driving.

First time in 45 years staying outside Glacier National Park boundaries.

You can see the entrance sign from the Motel.

Closest i’ve ever been to the airport for a 6am wheels up.

Whose opinion should you bank on?

Disney Speaker
The closer you look, the more you see.

Whose opinion should you bank on?

And what criteria do you use to confirm a valid choice?

Watch people.

Do they talk about being happy, peaceful, and content?

Do they ooze joy, peace, and contentment?

As i sit and write, who’s busier?

Disney Speaker
From here, only a 7.5-mile walk to the “hotel”.

As i sit and write, who’s busier?

The small rugged room is filling with people who are chatting with other hikers, yet they themselves are hurrying along – they spend less than 24 hours in this most beautiful setting.

Why?

Because they are busy getting on to the next stop.

All of them.

One night and then dust in the wind.

Then there’s the guy with his laptop, intentionally distancing himself the others, shunning the small talk.

Why?

He has work to do.

We can bet a few may feel sorry for the person who can’t get away from his laptop. (i’d be tempted to think that if the roles were reversed)

And i smile and remind myself (to shed any temptation for personal guilt) i’m at work.

The purpose here in Glacier National Park isn’t to escape, it’s to work.

How glorious is that?

The conversing i get to do happens later in the day when today’s work is done.

Some things are so simple they confuse us

Glacier in August snow
So different for late August. So cold. So beautiful.

Pencil or a broom?

Earn with your mind (pencil), not your time (broom).

Do or think?

Pray with your steps or with your thoughts.

If that last sentence didn’t make sense, try rereading it.
