Sunday best

Two kids dressed up ready for church
Feels like an Easter Sunday leaving the house (front porch) for photo. The “painted corn” on the door is throwing me though.

There’s a fine line between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

dad

Sunday best makes me think of something different.

Everyday best.

Don’t give me your best one day out of seven.

Give me your best seven out of seven.

Not posing or posing?

grandpa doing beer and smoking cigarette
Russ was ‘Mammaw’s” boyfriend my entire life. We never knew our real grandfather. Russ filled that role until Mammaw died. Russ visited her and ‘cared’ for her for all the years she lived in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s. Note the cigarette in his hand?

It’s not lost on me that a physically healthy body can unexpectedly be attacked neurologically.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Prioritized your priorities and simplify your things, friends, habits.

Learnable moments

Doctors office waiting room
Walked to this morning’s 8am dental appointment, teeth cleaning #6 for 2023. Over-focused.

My blind spot is that every moment is a teachable moment.

dad

You know how kids are sponges? For knowledge, just to be clear.

When does that stop?

Should it stop?

What happens to adults if it stops?

What happens to adults if it doesn’t stop?

Where do you place yourself in the spectrum?

Lead with your smile

Children’s book cover
Dr Kumar’s office manager just published this and gave us a copy.

Random acts of kindness are some of life’s greatest blessings. To the receiver, and, to the giver. Be a giver.

dad

Insight: In giving, you get. Whatever you put out into the world.

For decades now, i strive to only give positive energy.

With a heavy heart and a track record of 110 days of no definitive progress, i knew i would project to Dr Kumar a great big Disney smile when he entered the exam room.

Smiling wasn’t what i was feeling, but it’s a gift i wanted to give.

Never swim alone

Two touring bicycles

i knew if we didn’t do the bicycle trip in 1984, we’d never do it.

We didn’t need a lot of money.

But we did need a fair amount of time.

With $200 cash (to our name) and no jobs lined up, we were ready for an unforgettable adventure/honeymoon.

Note: We did have a tiny savings check we knew we’d need when we permanently relocated to Orlando. Apartment deposit and first month’s rent, etc.

Bonus: This video, “It’s a Nurse”.
