Legit wilderness rush lasted all day

Grinnell Glacier Hike
It was an exciting, and unexpected, encounter.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
We backed pretty far away before we got our cameras out. The zoom makes it look closer than it was.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
All of us frozen until we could determine it was safe to proceed.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Decent distance away considering we had rounded the rock corner where the Ram is standing.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Is it safe? What do we do if it charges?

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Majestic. Powerful. Home field advantage.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
So yeah, we originally rounded this bend and the Ram was right in front of us.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Back to the ascent.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Just keep climbing.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
The Ram (and two others) opted to travel below the trail, allowing us to pass safely.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Looking back…far left lake is where we began the hike.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Stunning geology.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
FYI.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
At 3.5 miles one way and 1,800′ elevation gain, it wasn’t a difficult hike. Almost there.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Used to be ocean bottom.

Grinnell Glacier Hike
Starting to sense something uniquely special. Nearing the trail’s end, and Grinnell Glacier’s first sighting.

Hikers are constantly advising hikers in the opposite direction what lies ahead.

“Hey, we saw three Mountain Goats about 300 yards down from the trail, near the waterfall.”

We joked that unless we can pet them, it probably wouldn’t excite us.

You quickly get spoiled when you have super close encounters with the bigger animals.

Grinnell Glacier has receded and will be gone by 2030 (estimated).

Working hard to control the controllables

Travel notes on post it
Yesterday afternoon. When i checked in for the flights, my plan got derailed, but i was assured it would be fine.

Working hard to control the controllables.

Even though my plans got derailed (or so i thought), i decided (reluctantly) to accept what was going to unfold and make the best of it.

As “luck” would happen, seating for today’s trip to Glacier is happening just the way i planned.

It was a nice treat.

Grow up or play like you mean?

You’re dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway. – Walt Disney

Life will constantly whisper in your ear, “Grow up.” Be mindful, but don’t drink the cool-aid if you know what i mean. Play like you mean it.
