Our oldest car’s tire exploded overnight. At first we thought someone slashed it. But there’s no way anyone’s going undetected in our yard.
Cheryl left early on errands.
After a few hours of yardwork, midday, used the AAA app to schedule a flat tire change.
Alex inflated the regular-size spare tire, installed it, and put the busted tire in the trunk.
Asked him where he’s from, because his accent (to me) sounded like some of Cheryl’s oldest relatives.
“Ukraine.”
Holding back tears, i requested to give him a hug.
Any challenges i have pale in comparison to Russia’s “special military operations” in Alex’s homeland.
