Time poor, spirit

Am i time poor? And, does it even matter?

Time poor is when you are so busy, you cannot afford to waste any time.

You are living without any discretionary time.

No extra time to do something that isn’t required.

i want to create a new way of being with my discretionary time.

First i want discretionary time to explode.

Second, to increase discretionary time, my new ‘job’ is to eliminate or streamline everything that requires my time. The target is everything that feels like work.

Third, the extra discretionary time is to be spent making Cheryl (and myself) the center of my time expenditure.

Busy is not sexy, spirit

Why is being busy not sexy?

Why?

Wait, you haven’t figured this out yet?

For me, being too busy to remain patient is my nemesis.

Impatience is not sexy. Not loving. Not helpful.

The only time impatience is sexy is when you are doing good and decent work to improve yourself or others. And staying always mindful that to everything there is a time and season.

Take your time, but hurry up.

Patiently working on being more consistently patient.

Being too busy to be present is a challenge and opportunity. On this front, i’ve transformed. Not perfectly, but tremendously.

Letting go of posturing, spirit

Is it possible to finally, for good, let go of habitual, societal posturing?

Yes.

Stopped wearing my crucifix after one of our Church’s Saturday morning men’s group gatherings.

In my 40s, i was the youngest person in this group of 50 older Catholic men.

i became a regular in this men’s group. All of us attended one of the three annual Emmaus Weekend Retreats.

Led by a couple ‘elders’, there was a rhythm and format to the Saturday mornings. Scripture readings, lecture, singing, reflection and table talk.

In one table talk experience a fellow mentioned he wore his crucifix over his shirt so others could see it and know he’s a Christian.

i always wore mine under my shirts, invisible to others.

Told the table that i meant no disrespect, but i want people to know i’m a Christian from what i do, not from what i wear.

That was the moment.

.thinking .differently surprises even me sometimes.

Let my life be my medicine, spirit

Can i let my life be my ‘spiritual prescription medicine’?

Conventional wisdom, historical wisdom, common sense wisdom…

Take care of your emotions.

Who on this planet doesn’t get that?

Simplest way to frame this up to not offend anyone…everyone, including me, is in one of three places right now. And some of us, including me, could be in more than one of these places:

Going through a hell no one knows about.
Just came out of a hell no one knew about.
Unbeknownst to any of us, we’re about ready to start going through a hell no one will know about.

How you do anything, spirit

If someone asked you to draw a circle on a piece of paper, and said, everything in this circle is your entire life, what is at the very center of it? Many answer family, health, etc. i know because this was a research project i did for 15 years traveling in first class with Disney Institute clients. No one said, Jesus. Neither good nor bad. Simply a research project.

How you see emotional (spiritual) problems, emotional (spiritual) challenges, emotional (spiritual) opportunities, is how you see everything.

Does this matter?

Is it important?

Yes and yes.

How you see everything (with your spirit) is how you do everything.
