Praying, always, to remain humble

Praying, always, to remain humble.

As a small business owner, there is friction from the Marketing side of your (business) life.

Marketing is how others learn how you can help them. And people who need help want an expert, if possible (it should always be possible).

So when you do things that elevate your craft to certain levels – when you achieve remarkable milestones and accomplishments –  Marketers must let others know.

It would be a disservice to keep credentials and brand identity strengths from becoming public knowledge.

This is why humility can seem like a foreign concept to people who run their own business.

You get this, right?

Always be kind and humble

Really need to start using this. Haven’t even attempted to, so far. Selfies and personal videos are often perceived as narcissistic, and for a business owner, selfies and videos are key to marketing.

There’s a chance that the greatest, most useful, and most scalable prayers have no words.

Note: A keynote speaker is constantly challenged to balance being “the most subject-matter knowledgable” in the room and being humble.

Bask in your blessings

Disney Institute Speakers
Setting up my office before the audience arrives. It’s encumbant on me to have the best questions in the entire room.

Bask in your blessings.

God (or whomever you use) has provided us with a body – a temple housing everything keeping us alive.

i know you’re not defensive with Lane8’s post today because you know i’m not being boastful nor condescending.

You know i’m simply asking a question.

My life and career has been built on asking questions.

It’s my job.

(And i love getting to do it for a living.)

Do you really want to take a vacation?

Do you really want to take a vacation away from what you love to do?

Few would say, “Yes”.

Yet…

Vacations are such a “must have” part of (in first-world countries) people’s lives.

You know, get-aways.

Get away from what?

Get away from what you love to do?

There’s a realization, for me, that many of us aren’t doing what we absolutely love.

This is why we need an escape.

Praying i don’t get handled by a savvy salesperson

Disney Speakers
Yesterday, meeting with a global speakers bureau director from Madrid.

Praying i don’t get handled by a savvy salesperson.

Spend a lifetime in sales and you can become amazing convincing. You may also stay mediocre…time doesn’t equate to excellence, but it can.

What the buyer cannot tell from initial phone calls, emails, and one physical meeting is how much of the pitch is accurate and how much is inflated or hidden to make the offer the most compelling for the buyer.

Praying suits me.

i pray every day.

All day.

So this situation isn’t rare, it’s just different.
