Lift like a Laker

Lift like a Laker is a program for school students. Parents are also welcome. Pretty cool opportunity.

But alas, too many competing priorities.

We will spend Palm Sunday (in three days) up north on a college campus.

And so it goes.

On a side note, we have 32 after-school hugs left, including this afternoon’s – if the podcasting is done by 4pm.

Rob is a savior?

Rob is a savior?

Well, a technology savior.

Waited to write today’s five posts until Rob arrived at 8am (today).

He saw the far-too-many 421 redirect errors and the photo upload JSON errors. In my need to keep the pace from falling ridiculously (too late) far behind, i used the photo i knew worked. It’s that simple.

Christmas paradox revealed as i woke up this morning

Church epiphany
About a year ago i snapped this with an iPhone. Had an epiphany an hour ago.

Christmas paradox revealed as i woke up this morning.

Do i really believe in the spirit of gift giving as a part of a Christian belief system or am i a zombie on the treadmill of life, going through the motions?

Going through the motions is easy because retailers for many decades have crafted American habits and rituals – buy, buy, buy.

If we don’t offer gifts to people we love, that means we don’t care as much as everyone thinks we should care.

Right?

So as i awoke an hour ago, i couldn’t help but wonder, “How many times do you attend Church a year?”

Does your commitment to be physically present within a Christian community (just an hour a week) match and support your thinking for why you should give and recieve gifts?

This is not a life-sentence by being highly structured

sanibel sunrise
In the midst of an amazing Sanibel Island sunrise yesterday…

sanibel rainbow
…i remembered to do a 180-degree turnaround. As i watched and photographed the rainbow, i saw a man with a big camera step onto the beach and walk toward me. He was so captivated by the firey-red glow of sunrise behind me, the rainbow evaded him.

Being focused and disciplined with our habits and rituals doesn’t sentence us to a life lacking in spontaneity and fun.

Quite the opposite.

We are able to take what unexpectedly crosses our path and use healthy improvisation to do something we’ve never (or rarely) done before.

This is exciting, fun, and often provides joy where and when we didn’t expect.

What many never experience and therefore can’t correlate is that wellness attracts, facilitates and enhances spontaneity.

Who knew?

Nobody is going to tow you to success.

In this case (at this blog), we’re talking about personal peace and contentment.

You must do the heavy lifting to shed what doesn’t let peace into your life.

You must do the heavy lifting to eliminate distractions, medications, and entertainment that feels addictive.
