The thing about everything, spirit

Isn’t it time your waiting is over? Yes. i planned to stop working. It’s finally here. Will that make me more patient?

The thing about everything is that everything takes longer than you plan.

Noteworthy, there’s an exception to nearly every rule.

Exceptions are rare.

We plan to be patient, forgiving, faithful.

Easy to plan for it when you haven’t been tested incessantly for decades.

And yes the tests last a lifetime, as far as i can discern from nearly seven decades here.

The goal for peace with who i am and being content with what i have isn’t a deathbed hope. It’s a hope, goal, and reality, daily.

Now.

Today.

Daily.

Until i die, whenever that may be.

It may take longer than i plan.

As the ‘boys’ get older, the reality is present that their adult journey will make scheduling a summer week in Northwest Montana adjacent to the Canadian boarder as challenging as any ‘family gathering’ .

God is a word i use as a net to catch all ‘religions’, including no religion. Every human has the capacity to choose what ‘grounds them’ emotionally. Many call their choice, “God”.

Advent Health is the only non-Disney organization i’ve experienced where every employee knows their common purpose.

Note: My experience comes from getting to know some 2,000 various organizations, to varying degrees of depth, since 1999 when i started teaching at Disney Institute.

Spiritual gymnastics

Facebook status update
Upper left, 2017 Facebook update. Used to love FB. Now, it makes me nervous. Plus, the commenting feature no longer serves my peace.

There are words to describe yesterday, but none seem sufficient.

If all we get today is what we were thankful for yesterday, will it be enough?

i consistently talk about Church “being every daily step”.

While deciding whether to keep or delete Facebook, i read many entries and smiled big on the one below.

“The daily pickup after school hug ritual has been happening since he was 3. Today it hit me, it’s been 13 years.”

Turns out it lasted 15 years. Never missed a day.

Gymnasts do their reps.

My reps were/are different, but they are done with the same intentionality and intensity.
