Give Kids The World?

Traveling recently in Delta Airline’s first class cabin, there was an empty (very rare) seat next to me and behind me. Cabin door is closed. Cool, extra room, I thought.

Next thing you know, the guy behind me comes up and takes the empty seat next to me, leaving his row empty.

My surprised look prompted his explanation, “There’s a Give Kids The World Child and her Mother that are being upgraded”.

Our plane is headed to Orlando, with all the world-class theme parks. What should I do? What would you do?

The Old Lady Said

Ever meet someone and purposefully strike up a conversation because you just have a feeling they have something to share that will make your day?

It’s not a normal tactic for most people, but I’ve come to relish the opportunities, and create as many of them as possible.

So (today) he says there was an old lady in the nursing home that told him, “Let your words be few, but seasoned with grace”.

How often do we simply hit delete? Our email in-box can be overwhelming. We don’t hit delete because we don’t care, we do it because we are drowning in data, and something has to give.

Almost deleted this, but there was a tug on the heartstrings not to. Can you imagine being this Army Chaplain with troops in dangerous Afghanistan?

James Bain spent 35 years in prison for a rape he did not commit. Can you even begin to imagine what kind of hell that must have been? New DNA evidence proves he has been innocent. For 35 years.

Yesterday’s Orlando Sentinel article tells a brief story and shares video of James.

Can we all be kind enough to pause today, and perhaps in the coming days as well, and pray for James and his Family. There is no way to make up 35 lost years.

Can you imagine? What would you do? What do you hope for James?

Are these things even on your radar? Probably, if you’re like most people. This car was about a soccer field away from the Scout Store, where I was sitting on the steps with Cooper (our Dog).

Some people wear the Jesus bracelet WWJD, the crucifix, have the Jesus Loves You bumper sticker. And then there’s the car. Who knew?
