By design or by default?

Disney Character Pluto in Glacier Park
Did this happen by design or by default?

Is your life and the habits and rituals that create how every single day of your life is acted out – is your life by design or by default?

If you aren’t sure, then it’s by default.

If you are crystal clear, then your answer is immediate, “By design.”

Note: i understand that bad things happen to good people. You do too. This is one of life’s great equalizers. The other great equalizer is that everyone gets 24 hours a day.

The long way is the short cut, insight: It’s not what happens to us, it’s how we respond to what happens to us.

Is it your goal or your reward?

IPad Pro order receipt
Yesterday. A great tool for my speaking, writing, coaching, and podcast business.

Is it your goal or your reward?

What?

Money.

And peace of mind.

Was the Priest really surprised?

The Baptism of the Lord
This is a big deal in Christianity’s early history. Two days ago, January 13, 2019.

Was the Priest really surprised?

While delivering his Sermon a few days ago, he reached a point where he asked the entire congregation, “Are you on fire?

Crickets.

He asked a second time.

A few crickets woke up, but an overwhelming lack of outward expression.

Leaning over, i asked my Family, “Would you have been embarrassed if i had shouted?”

“Yes.”

In a generally conservative, subdued Catholic Mass, it’s challenging to expect an audience to go from zero to 60 in the blink of an eye.

So Father John’s surprise surprised me.

Smile at the Ying and Yang

Smile at the Ying and Yang.

The missed opportunity is how to use quitting in a constructive way.

What if instead of quitting the new year’s resolution to get healthy, we instead quit what we were doing the first three weeks and begin a new approach?

Changing (quitting) the activity may be just the thing needed to keep making progress (not quiting).

Feeling alone in a nice village?

Horizon West
It takes a village.

Horizon West began in the mid-1990’s, a few years after we moved to our current home.

Because our subdivision bordered the project, we were invited (and attended) all the early meetings with the big developers.

It was a coalition of Citrus farm owners who wanted out of farming and held massive acreage of (extremely) valuable vacant land North and Northwest of the Walt Disney World Resort.

The farmer’s dilemma was changing the existing zoning from one home per 10-acres to 50 homes per 10-acres (five homes per acre).

All told, we are roughly 50% finished with the buildout that will add one-million-plus people where there used to be only a couple thousand at best.

A few days ago, i attended a small business meetup organized by Orange County Florida’s citizen of the year, Cynthia Dailey.

The number of times a visionary thinks about quitting would make your head spin.

Your community is a gift, brought about by visionary people.

Your decisions have that same potential.
