Serving is worship

Serving is worship.

But ‘worship’ isn’t necessarily serving.

Sitting in a pew at Church is a passive activity. The congregation is being served by the Priest. The congregation is not particularly focused on others during Mass.

Parishioners are highly likely to be thinking about serving others. But like all activities in life, we do not have time to do them all. So serving others is more like a wish or desire than an actual behavior.

The road to heck is paved with good intentions.

And so, we drive home after Mass and get back into our daily survival mode.

There’s a highly overlooked habit that you can master. And if you don’t think you can master it, perhaps you can be very good at it.

Mostly invisible or imperceptible by others, focus on these types of behaviors…

Serving others (and yourself) with patience, forgiveness, generosity, kindness, hope…this is the emotional DNA that makes life blossom.

No one really sees pollen and how it gets to a plant, but it does, prolifically.

As i always say, “Every step is Church”.

Makes sense then to think (and believe) that every step is serving.

Happy Summer Solstice

Couple days ago. Photo: Louisville, Kentucky where we met in 2018. It was all i could do to not smile. This moment lasted .5 seconds.

Use your talent to deliver your punchline.

Your punchline is what you offer that others benefit from.

Use your skill for the well-being of humanity.

Sent the photo to Michael Jr yesterday and a note. He replied back and sent a link to his March 20, 2020 Covid-19 comedy movie, More Than Funny. It’s funny, but no longer public.

He’s has a ton of free videos, he’s clean, and incredibly funny (and inspiring).

Note: On this April 21, 2020 morning, Summer Solstice seems so far away. It’s not. Grateful for being mindful that it’s coming and find it interesting that the solstice’s arrival is the same day before (yesterday) this publishes.

Luck?

Gift yourself with this wealth

Weed that bloomed, on a Philadelphia sidewalk.

Gift yourself with this wealth.

What wealth?

Being present.

Who teaches whom

Months ago. Teaching is the love of my life. To teach to the love of my life is humbling on a grand scale.

When one teaches, at least two learn.

To teach is to learn twice.

What do you do that no one else can do?

You can teach what you know, because know one knows exactly what you know.

Offer it up

Disney Customer Service Speaker
Forgiveness sets you free. It sets the forgiven free as well.

Father John spoke about offering it up, a couple days ago during his sermon.

i immediately wrote it down.

What a great metaphor. Father John said his Mom would always tell him to offer it up when he got a sports injury – to use the injury for some good.

And then just now as i’m writing this…

Dear Cheryl, if all i got, is your hand in my hand, baby i could die…a happy man. The song is here.
