Three-week countdown, spirit

eMail & Blog Comments Get My Attention Quickly
After 2007 flew by, i began my Plan B plan in 2008, starting my own business. The 2008-09 Real Estate and Banking collapse led to unexpected Disney Leadership layoffs. After 25 years, i suddenly felt vulnerable for the very first time. If this craziness ever repeated, i wanted to have Plan B ready to launch.

Three-week countdown, spirit…

Spiritually, emotionally, it’s literally impossible to comprehend the daily blogging effort.

i’ve published over 31,000 blog posts in my lifetime.

The odds of never crossing a line in 31k attempts?

Low. Impossibly low.

The odds of crossing a line in 31k attempts?

High, almost certainly gonna happen.

The spiritual and emotional risks of doing what no one else wanted to do…

This “what if i unintentionally publish something controversial or confidential?”

Heavy emotional toll simply from ‘worrying’ about crossing an invisible, imaginary line.

Trusted my Disney experience, Disney wisdom, and Disney insight that i could proceed without crossing a line.

Then again, lines are often in the eyes of the beholder.

But i moved forward anyway.

How could i not?

My mantra then and still to this day, “What would Walt do?”

So i kept moving forward.

Just like Walt.

Then why organizational resistance?

Well, here’s a headliner…

What if we cross a line we can’t see until after the fact?

We are too conservative to go first.

We are too big and slow to go first.

Because nearly two decades ago in 2007, everyone was afraid of ‘social media’.

It wasn’t called social media in 2007.

We just called it “The Internet”.

The World Wide Web.

Scary.

No one at Disney Institute embraced blogging.

No one at Disney Institute wanted to go first.

Except me.

So i went.

Planned freedom, spirit

mountains and lake
The upper-right glow is freedom shining down on the spiritual seeds you sowed.

Planning spiritual freedom requires the same fundamental conditions any great ‘classroom’ offers.

Freedom to…

  1. Freedom to question
  2. Freedom to participate
  3. Freedom to fail
  4. Freedom to opt out
  5. Freedom to excel

All planned freedoms are planned to provide the student with remarkable opportunities.

The catch is that the opportunities are self-directed.

This is how you learn to fish.

You learn by doing, not by being fed without any say.

Teach hope, spirit

We often stay for extended periods less than a mile from here. This photo was taken shortly after sunrise.

Teach hope spiritually…

“Hope for what?”, you may ask.

Hope for peace and contentment.

Teach hope simply by exuding hopefulness.

Is there a catch to this?

Yes.

What then?

You must exude this – demonstrate this – for a lifetime. Nothing less.

Reflecting on 2025:

1. What are you most happy about completing?

2. What was the smartest decision you made?

3. What one word best sums up your 2025 experience?

4. What was the greatest lesson you learned?

5. What is your biggest piece of unfinished business?

6. Who were three people that had the greatest impact on you? (Have you thanked them?)

7. What was the biggest risk you took?

8. What did you shed to improve your life?
