The best way to receive blessings

Orlando Motivational Speaker
In giving, one receives.

The best way to receive blessings is by giving, by being helpful, by being of service to others.

It’s natural to want to believe that giving depletes us.

Perhaps.

Giving also fills us.

It’s a wacky math, but one that adds up in wonderful ways.

Your spirit is your most underused personal asset

Small Catholic Church
It would be 15+ years later when i decided to become Catholic. Pictured is Cheryl and i leaving the Church on June 25, 1983.

Your spirit is your most underused personal asset.

And if you’re not careful, this lasts a lifetime.

Do your best to overcome this.

PS. We used birdseed instead of rice (it’s better for the birds). But we didn’t have a grasp on how fallen balloons pollute and harm our environment.

Stay hungry

Lake McDonald Lodge dining room…we saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs there.

Lake McDonald Lodge dining room’s table #45. Our favorite for breakfast, to keep warm. For dinner, we preferred to sit in the middle of the dining room.

Stay hungry.

Never let your memories be bigger than your dreams.

When you feel stuck – and you will – don’t stay long.

Stay hungry.

Hunger helps you find a solution.

Discipline

inspiring friend
Mike helps us with home improvement projects. His wife and my wife work together at Disney. Photo: yesterday after i walked home from the gym.

Just like going to the gym, or going running or biking, you need daily discipline to focus on your spirit.

Mike (above) and i had a deep, yet casual conversation about life and death.

A few years back, Mike was one of two people in a group of 11 who survived cancer treatment.

His cancer is back.

Mike has two choices.

He can opt to not have his ear removed, and die sooner than later.

Or…

He can have his ear removed, along with a big patch of the side of his face – down to the bone. A patch from his leg will be removed to reconstruct what’s taken from his face. Remove a couple teeth, reroute glands, nerves, etc.

He joked about his conversations with his Doctors who discussed prosthetic ear options.

Mike suggested a Star Trek Vulcan ear, so he can say he’s half Vulcan, like Spock.

Or, how about an on/off switch for when he’s near his wife.

His courage, faith, and perspective inspire me.

He’s an Army veteran.

He knows all too well how fragile and ugly llife is and how all we can do is make choices and move forward.

Consistently thinking this way requires a learned and applied discipline.

My advice to is this: learn it and apply it.

Nothing in excess and know thyself

High School Graduation
Dr. Brenda Fields gave an inspiring and practical speech.

Nothing in excess and know thyself.

Our Son’s Latin teacher has a remarkable reputation at High School, and she was overwhelmingly chosen by the students to deliver the 2018 graduating class the commencement speech.

A significant part of her speech revolved around the Enid – with the two main point being:

  1. Nothing in excess
  2. Know thyself

Sound wisdom back then.

And still today.
