Confidence is helpful

15-second video: Time to start our first retreat. All good. No threat. Yet absolutely proactive.

i only want to be as cocky as telling the devil to go take a long walk off a short pier.

Note: AKA “hey devil, go screw yourself”.

Grizzly Bear context getting clearer

20-second video: “Junior” is perched high above the trail. Another big Grizzly is heading to the trail.

We watch, patiently, enthralled with anticipation.

If the Bears make a right onto the trail (which is the direction we are heading), we’ll respectfully follow at their pace. With no desire to get closer.

If like the first bear, they all cross the trail and continue straight up Gunsight Mountain, cool.

If they hang a left toward us, we have a couple options.

Random 2025 Glacier video, spirit

29-second video: Remember how far away the Grizzly is from us? And, we were not looking for bears. Unreal that my eye fixated on a small, literally stationary ‘boulder’ in a tiny pond a couple hundred meters away.

There are only six peaks above 10,000′ in Glacier. One of them, Mount Jackson, is across from us. Our trail is around 7,000′. We are the only people on the trail. We are so deep in that we expect to see from zero to 10 people all day.

Note: Attention Deficit Disorder…Not for us. Not this day.

Second Eye Surgery, spirit

14-second video: No pain at all today. Yee-haaa!

An attitude of gratitude is powerful medicine. And, no prescription needed.

James Christ

Laughter is no enemy to learning.

Walt Disney

In college a couple drinking buddies loved Jimmy Buffett. Could never understand why.

A few years later, at the University of Idaho, i had a bartending job.

The radio only played country music because Moscow, Idaho didn’t have a Rock station.

The owner had two cassette tapes. Can’t recall what the second one was, but the first one was “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”.

Before i became a Country music fan, Buffett’s tape was the go-to playlist. Constantly, it seems in retrospect. Etched in my soul i guess.

Fell in love with the vibe.

Buffett’s songs reminded me of Florida, palm trees, the ocean, and sunshine.

Next thing you know, i’m in a Washington State University (WSU) (Go Cougs) record shop and went to the album bin that started with B and found a couple Jimmy Buffett albums.

Don’t recall which album was my first, but i quickly wore it out, playing it constantly and being mesmerized by Buffett’s style.

Before you know it, i owned everything he released. In 1983 that was 10 albums.

Note: We lived on WSU’s campus in an all-women dorm. Cheryl was a Residense Hall Director and lived on-site. It’s where we lived a year before and a year after we married. Eight miles across the state line, i attended University of Idaho and worked at a novel hot-tub rental business with a beer and wine bar.
