An epiphany about praying and writing after nearly 7,000 blog posts…

They are one and the same.

You cannot spend two hours each morning thinking and then writing about the balance and interconnectedness of mind, body, spirit, career, and home… without entering a prayerful state.

a bull horn, a Bible, a radio, and a plastic milk crate

looking back is part of life, the past is a great teacher

Is this man unbalanced? He’s been preaching on this very corner for 12 years, and 30 years total in the French Quarter. Awesome right? And isn’t our body a temple? On a quick, honest glance, does it look like he honors that? Just asking. Greatness in one choice at the expense of another would be like an Olympic athlete, spiritually bankrupt.

His name is Keith and we spoke for a about a minute, while a friend waited patiently – we were on a time schedule.

Tomorrow night I’ll be giving a brief invocation at our 35th High School reunion at the Viking in York, Pennsylvania. Tried twice to get Jon to do it. He’d be amazing. Will try one more time today to coax him. Plan B is to do it like he asked originally.

Wondering what to write for this, the third of five morning blogs, allows time for thinking about what’s important today, and just how important are those things on the “important” list.

Then another question, “Of the important things, can it always be prioritized and what will I do with that knowledge today?”
