Why did the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy happen?

A church Christmas show about Christmas without Christ
last night the Christmas show brought tears to my eyes, just three days after Sandy Hook

Why did the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy happen a few days ago?

I don’t know.

No one can say for sure.

They can’t.

And even if a note is found (and maybe there has), and the killer wrote a reason, are we really going to believe it to be the gospel truth?

Seriously?

And here’s my first take after only three days since the tragedy:

  • may overwhelming love comfort the Families directly and indirectly impacted
  • may the media stop feeding the frenzy and hysteria of negativity, and blame
  • may everyone pause, for longer than we have in years, and look in the mirror
  • may we ask ourselves to be this concerned over the small, unrecognizable, daily tragedies in that mirror
  • may people reading this have the patience to figure out what I just said…

to be continued…

The real reason for the change didn’t come out until later

leadership duties
leadership has an obligation for simple, key, repeatable messages

The real reason for the change didn’t come out until later – there are far too many no shows. This came out about halfway through the 90-minute presentation.

And here I had thought it was to embrace technology to not get left behind in an antiquated world.

Insight: Say the most important thing over, and over, and over…

Note: No one is perfect. A HUGE thank you to Larry for 21 years of scheduling dedication. We’d be sunk without him.

Here’s a perfect example of why Christians get a bad rap

integrity
is there any difference between walking in and out of the gym… or the church?

Here’s a perfect example of why Christians get a bad rap. Let’s use a gym membership for this example. You belong to the gym.

You openly share that you go. You have the workout gear. The color coordinated spandex things. The water bottle, iPod, headphones. The gym-logo tee shirt. Maybe even a personal trainer, but doubtful.

The thing is, you rarely go, and when you are there, it’s more like socialization than serious, strenuous activity.

Belonging to the gym doesn’t mean anything if you aren’t committed with your actions and results.

If you claimed to be a fit athlete, people would call you a liar.

Now insert Church everywhere I inferred Gym.
