Not sure where Bob lived in 1989, but my wife and i lived 30 miles south of Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

i was working in Resort Special Activities (RSA to everyone in the company).

RSA was a team of 10 Cast Members dedicated to facilitating Walt Disney World experiences for our Company’s very top executives (CEO, COO, CFO, etc) and also our Company’s most important Guests (our Board, celebrities, business icons, political figures).

On this day (today, Jan 29) in 1989 we watched the Challenger launch on TV until it cleared the launch pad and then went outside to watch it climb into space.

And then disaster 73 seconds later.

Pray for us sinners

The photo came from Twitter yesterday.

Our Earth is 4.6 billion years old, so if we scale it to being 46 years old, then humans have been here for four hours.

And the industrial revolution is one minute old – and in that one minute we have destroyed 50% of our forests.

Pray that this wakes enough people up to plant more trees.

On the edgy side of Christmas

Which is more egregious?

Someone thinks, “You’re too busy to come visit me.”

Someone thinks, “You’re too poor to come visit me.”

One has plenty of time but little finances.

One has plenty of money, but little time.

Bottomline, neither sees the other.

One offers, year after year, to pay for the other’s travel expenses.

Is it time to hit “restore” life?

Mass a few days ago was different because for the first time as a Family, we sat up front and center.

We used to sit front and far left.

Then we moved to the last row, far left.

Chapin and i have occasionally sat up front and center when Cheryl hasn’t been able to attend.

It’s like this: at your favorite artitst’s concert, would you prefer front row seats or the very back?

If you aren’t fully engaged at Church, it may be your seating location.

Epcot water pool — If this was a reflection pool (at Epcot, in 2012), what would we see in ourselves?

Removed the name of the person who commented on my Facebook conversation:

“I hope I’m wrong about this but it sounds like the exchange between you and Carl is you don’t care about what anyone else thinks…even about those who do struggle with depression or the lack of motivation everyday…all that matters is your ” happy, motivated everyday attitude and to the rest be damned”. If that be true for you both it’s a very self centered view. To be sure life is short but in part we’re here to help those who do struggle everyday. I think you need to get your “give a damn” fixed.”

Not sure how to comment on the reflection i’m having from an eight-year od FB conversation, but this is the one thing i’m leaning on now: Let she who has not sinned, cast the first stone.

Final note: This was placed in a file in 2010 with the intent to let some time pass and then respond unemotionally. Totally forgot about it until the recent email purge (in 2018).
