Turns out we (Cheryl and i) know the daughter of the St Mary Lodge and retail area’s founders. They arrived in the mid-1920’s. Their son-in-law, Terry Welder, wrote a book and printed 40 copies. i’m holding the autographed copy Terry gave us three weeks ago.

Mountains
After a second cold creekside sit and soak, we drove a mile or so to this meadow. The second soak was near the Motor Inn.

If you think the price for vibrant peace and contentment is high, wait until you get the bill for regret.

Odds favor a generational legacy. Be careful.

“Wing Nut” is hiking 40 miles today. He’s the second person we’ve seen today. The first is heading out 23 miles.
16-second video: Those ”invisible” shadows. Always there. Rarely noticed. ’Never’ enjoyed.
23-second video: Never noticed the upper Goat trail(s) before. The lower, horizontal Goat trail is walkable for a couple hundred meters then it’s unsafe.
Mountains
Ahern Peak. Ahern Glacier.

The high mountain chalet, at first glance, looks like most of life’s basic “luxuries” are gone.

When in reality, the real luxury, is simply being up here.

To say Grace or not say Grace, that is the question.

A 20+ year habit, saying Grace before dinner.

But what about when friends or colleagues are dining with you?

Perhaps asking in advance.

Bonus: Speaking of Grace, what sacred me to death turned out to be a non-existent boogyman. Easily navigated Swiftcurrent Pass trail. Like child’s play.
