Remember the trail lesson

Pixar Up paradise falls
Pixar’s UP, Paradise Falls.

Remember the trail lesson about initiation and self-worth.

Literally every person you said hello to said hello back.

Literally every person you didn’t initiate a greeting with didn’t say hello.

Same lesson from two years ago.

Remember as you walk around campus this week, and every week.

Explain it to me

Runners High sign
Runner’s high is a legit feeling. Hoping to get back to it soon.

.think .differently

i create hope where it doesn’t exist. i use questions, paradox, and common sense to help people solve their unsolvables.

i enable people to change what they see, and in doing so, what they see changes.

This potentially changes everything.

How daily habits form

Mickey Mouse on parade float
Disney over-focuses on the same thing others under-focus on or ignore. You can and should over-focus too. It will save your life.

How do daily habits form?

Simple repetition.

Shortcuts.

Dogma.

Prevailing wisdom.

Thriving or declining is facilitated by the exact same habit forming process.

It gets worse

Disney Pixar Luca toy and college student on a mountain trail
Gunsight Lake hike with Family. Luca time stamps the year.

Nice house, admirable street address. And all the work hours you can handle. The job, and climbing the ladder to the next job (for the pool or bonus room addition), lure you into an insidious trap, the career prison.

Please be careful.

Observe the elders in your family, and your friend’s families, even your boss’s life. And ask a simple question, “Are they living vibrantly?”

You cannot be anxious

The 2021 Olympic gold medalist. To what end does the process of competing with the desire to win facilitate or crush personal freedom – peace and contentment from things that don’t matter.

Impatience, worry, fear, doubt, and anger.

These things kill peace.

Comparison, FOMO, ambition, and greed.

These things kill contentment.
