Prayed on the sidewalk this morning while running because i forgot to do it when i woke up.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.
Some days it doesn’t happen in the morning; writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts every day.
Everyday for 7.3 years.
Normally, all five are written before sunrise.
On those days when the pressure of a busy schedule is higher and the duration is long, i’m tempted to finally make an exception to the not missing a single day part.
But i don’t succumb.
Ever.

It happens way less than it used to, but every once in a while i have to pause and take stock of the progress that’s accumulated over the past seven-plus years.
Today is one of those rare days.
If you ask me right now how many blog posts i have written, i’ll say, “Not sure.”
So, to answer that…
7 years x 365 days = 2,555 days
2 leap years add 2 days = 2,557 days
April – June 2016 add 91 days = 2,648 days
July 1 – July 8, 2016 (today) add 8 days = 2,656 days
2,656 days x 5 blogs per day = 13, 280 blog posts

Bonus: Include the 90-day surplus of posts waiting to be published, add 450 posts…
13,280 + 450 = 13,730 posts written since April Fools Day 2009.
Prior to April 1, 2009, i had never written more than two consecutive days and had never written five posts in a single day.
That was a long winded way to ask you this:
What are you capable of doing that seems impossible?
But if you only worried about one day at a time, you could do something extraordinary?
Final thought, the other thing i began on April 1, 2009 was to begin each morning on bended knees and say three simple prayers…2,656 days in a row.

Perhaps our greatest daily tragedy is not pausing for (as little as) a minute to give thanks for the gift of another day.
Has anyone tried this?
What would happen to you if you spent more quiet time in the mornings before getting on with your day?
What, if anything, changed?
