Three ways to lean into discomfort

Nine months before Rosa Parks, 15-year old Claudette went to jail for not giving up her bus seat, which was the comfortable practice so white bus riders always had a seat. (It’s sickening to imagine our Country was this way and white people were comfortable with it.)

Three ways to lean into discomfort:

  1. You are forced to
  2. Someone helps you
  3. You self-initiate

Comfort equals stagnation.

The three things in speaking work here too

Disney’s Epcot Mexico pavilion merchandise table.

The three audience objectives i use in keynote speeches work here too.

  • Have fun
  • .think .differently
  • Lean into discomfort

As you reflect on what’s at the core of your spiritual and emotional beliefs, do these three things and you will find greater clarity and more joy.

Lean into discomfort daily (and all day)

southwest plane issues
Without thinking about the location, i sat here.

Lean into discomfort daily (and all day).

Coming off a spectacular day of firsts and calculated risks at Universal Studios two days ago, i challenged myself to sit in a window seat.

Years ago, i gave up my go-to choice (window seat) in favor of an aisle seat.

Yesterday, i was intent on taking a trip down memory lane.

Being in the Southwest Airlines A-group, i was one of the first to board and had unlimited choices.

As we were about to take off, it hit me.

The pilot announced there were roughly 100 empty seats.

When the seat belt sign was turned off, i moved to the third row from the rear, aisle seat.
