Rejoice because the mosquitoes had a great trail

Beargrass is unique to our eyes and we rarely see it on our numerous trips. We saw more on this trip than all other trips combined.
The sun rains down energy.
Beargrass is everywhere on the Westside.

Rejoice because the mosquitoes had a great trail, rather than being sad because the trail had mosquitoes.

While clouds are a welcomed break from the sun in Orlando, overcast skies in Glacier seem to suck the energy from the mountains.

It was vibrantly sunny the first four miles but then turned gloomy.

We are grateful this was our biggest worry yesterday.

Be patient and plant well

He’s practicing taking photos that are not typical. Didn’t know he was doing this until i started to take non-typical photos (like this one).
Four deer behind us.
Mowing down the beargrass blooms.
From the bottom box to the top box is four miles, mostly flat.
Saw seven deer on this short walk.
From McDonald Creek bridge looking South at Lake McDonald.
The bridge.

Be patient and plant well.

We hit GTTSR by 730am, knowing we’d have the road to ourselves, even on the return from McDonald Creek bridge.

A mystery was solved when four deer revealed their love of Bear Grass.

We feel rested for today’s climb to Snyder Lake. Our plan for ramping up our mileage and elevation should serve us well today.

No fire, no fireworks

Every morning at 6am the fire is restored.
At 5am, i am usually the only person already at work. By 6am, it’s just me and the opening shift bellhop/fire-starter.

No fire, no fireworks…

Awakening to birds chirping and dawn’s early light, i’m out of bed before 5am.

Last year, the crackling fire often woke me.

There’s been no 430-5am fire.

Why?

The easy guess is money – let’s save some. Right?

Perhaps apathy.

On graveyard shift no one’s watching, right?

There was a time when we only had Magic Kingdom fireworks during peak summer and holiday seasons. Otherwise, no fireworks.

We were not able to place ourselves in our Guests shoes.

Every Guest, no matter when they visit, deserves the Magic of fireworks.

Every Lake McDonald Lodge Guest, no matter when they visit deserves a fire in the infamous lodge fireplace.

No?

A spiritually special day on the calendar

Avalanche Lake yesterday.

A spiritually special day on the calendar.

UP is a special movie in our Family.

Somewhat auto-biographical, except for the ending.

Three lessons Glacier taught me about spirituality

Lake McDonald Lodge lobby. No two lamp shades are the same. All hand-painted.

Three lessons Glacier taught me about spirituality:

  • Nature is God manifested in everything you see, as far as you can see.
  • Be nice, and friendly, to people on the trail.
  • What you do on the trail and what you do away from Glacier should match.
