Palm Sunday Grace = Overwhelmed

At Chruch yesterday with a standing room only crowd (2k+-) as the Deacon, the Priest, and i read the Palm Sunday story to our congregation – a stunning moment…

Deacon played the narrator, Father John portrayed Jesus, the congregation played the part of “the crowd”, and i proclaimed the voice of assorted other characters in the story.

Five minutes into the 15-minute group narration, i lost my place.

Panic.

Unbelievable embarrassment.

Then more panic, if that was even possible.

The harder i worked to scan the reading to find where we were, the worse it got.

Deacon Larry covered for me by reading two of my parts.

Disney taught me to stay calm under pressure.

i left my position, walked over to the cantor, apologized and “begged” for help.

In the end, it all worked out.

The blessing was that Chapin got to see my hugely public “mistake” and how i handled it.

These moments don’t define us, our reaction and recovery do.

Thank you Good Samaritan

Josh helped me call my Family.

Thank you Good Samaritan.

Apple’s iPhone has a setting so when you dial 911 you can send an automated SOS emergency alert to whomever you set up as your emergency contact(s).

As i was riding an hour to the gym, i somehow dialed 911. Assured the operator it was an error.

Instantaneously…

Cheryl, Chapin, and my Sister Lori all received SOS alerts, and then they immediately tried calling and texting.

Somehow, i also simultaneously rendered the phone inoperable by accidentally configuring VoiceOver.

Several minutes from the closest business, my Allergist, i planned to use their phone to call Cheryl, not realizing they didn’t open for 20 more minutes – far too long to leave someone hanging knowing i may have been hit by a car.

Josh was jogging but waiting for the traffic light to change.

He wasn’t in a hurry and he saved the day.

The real reason we extend Forgiveness and Grace

The real reason we extend Forgiveness and Grace is obvious, but usually not until we are the ones who need it. (Tweet this)

Perspective is critical for gratitude to thrive

Javelin present
Last night (Jan 4) involved opening some belated Christmas presents, including this Javelin.

If you’ve never experienced Grace and Mercy, it won’t make sense to you until you experience it first hand. It probably will take multiple times for you to experience and comprehend it’s consistency. Grace and Mercy never fail in restoring a troubled soul.

Dear Son, i hope yesterday’s experience (completing your first half-mile run) adds the one experience that helps you reach your tipping point – that you are now convinced, from enough personal experience.

Yesterday’s epiphany was a Grace-filled gift from God

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for getting my attention in a profound way yesterday – the epiphany has brought solace and healing to my troubled spirit.

As i was sharing more of the story about John W Jolin’s desire to have me pay $7,500 for an absolutely (in my opinion) correctable, innocent, and microscopic error, i caught myself using unflattering language to describe John Jolin.

And then hours later, Gracious and Merciful Father, you revealed my sin in such a beautiful, simple, and loving way.

Even though i was talking privately to our Son (15), i was projecting the very same hurtful, uncalled for, irrational, and emotionally-biased opinions on John that he has been riddle with on the Internet for four years.

Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for thinking, saying, or doing anything that was avoidable or misguided. Instead loving Father, please cleanse my soul and fill me with unconditional forgiveness for John.

He is only doing what he believes in his heart is his duty to Linda’s Lyrics.

While i do not wish to pay $1,500 – the fee John has generously agreed to compromise on – i will gladly do it if it brings you honor. And even if it doesn’t seem to bring you honor publicly, it brings you honor privately, knowing that one of your children (me) has grown in the Holy Spirit of your likeness.
