Not knowing what we have while we have it

empty college town street
Every street looks similar (empty) everyday – yet some will never be aware.

Not knowing what we have while we have it often leads to regrets.

Daily writing helps us live less obliviously – ad regret less.

Writing forces us to take stock of what we have and don’t have.

What an unexpected blessing to be fully (mostly) mindful, all day, everyday.

Are there other ways besides writing to experience a constant state of presence, all day, everyday.

The person we want to be and the person we actually are should one day become…

Oscar Wilde quote on office door grease board
The perils of the dreamer… unknown to many

Difficult to wake up and be grateful all day, everyday.

Isn’t it?

Yet it’s our number one responsibility as a person who confesses humility and gratitude to an omnipotent God.

Right?

The person we want to be and the person we actually are should one day become the same – sooner rather than later.

If not today, when?

Like someone overcoming addiction, we triumph one day at a time.

A metaphor for everything in life we appreciate but hesitate to express

Feeding a hungry world is Father Ennis’ lifelong calling

I’m still a chicken. Yesterday at Mass I thought, this is the day. This is the day as we exit the Church, I’ll see Father Ennis (as Jesus of course) and get down on my knees and kiss his feet.

But it is still too embarrassing to carry out.

All of us, this is a metaphor for everything in life we appreciate but hesitate to express our gratitude. Some day the opportunity may be gone.

Father Ennis has grown and maintained his extraordinary Passion for over 50 years.

Remarkable.

As we race through our day may we never forget this – we are blessed beyond measure.

It takes indomitable will to remember this and to embrace it – because remembering it is not enough.

All they talk about is how grateful they are to be back

American flag blowing in the wind against a bright blue sky
All they talk about is how grateful they are to be back

There are some among us who have been to hell and back (and we all have) but you would never know because they never talk about how awful it was. All they talk about is how grateful they are to be back.

Be kind to those positive, happy souls who do not seem to be affected by tragedy, heartbreak, overwhelming stress and pressure and the entire catalog of other challenges.

Anyone hearing that echo?

… all they talk about is how grateful they are to be back.
