Ignore the side effects

Long, uphill hikes are metaphors for life. So are stunning views and wonderful hiking partners.

Ignore the negative side effects of a super-busy pace?

Why?

There must be powerful reasons, right?

Powerful enough to ignore long-term outcomes?

(never)

How is that a long-term and vibrant emotional strategy?

It’s not.

You clearly understand this. Well done.

Regret is always possible to reverse. When your ability to forgive yourself, surrender to things you cannot control, and live with gratitude that you can both forgive and surrender, you are free to move forward.

The key to it all is having a willing heart that is open to personal transformation.

If you think forgiveness and surrender are hard to sustain over decades of living, imagine trying to cram for personal transformation after decades of neglect.

Slow and steady wins the race. The long way is the shortcut.

What’s your obligation?

Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.

Are you satisfied?

With what?

With who you are and where you are in life?

And what’s your obligation to help those who’s mindset isn’t a growth mindset?

A growth mindset revolves around adult to adult mindset versus parent-child mindset.

What a child of can teach us

We use a decent amount of fresh-cut wildflowers in our home. No longer are dead wildflower blooms thrown in the trash. Now, they all get to continue their purpose by being released back into the wild.

What a child of can teach us is close to infinite.

Imagine the unbiased life outlook a child has, untouched by the burdens of self-care and personal responsibility.

If we could manage our adult responsibility and maintain an untarnished view of our world…what is possible may seem more possible.

Son, thank you for this gift – one of dozens in which you’ve changed my habits.

What does humanity gain by not changing?

Most people need love and acceptance a lot more than they need advice. – Bob Goff

Read this on LinkedIn yesterday.

It stopped me.

i thought for a few minutes and then had to type this train of thought…

i agree with Bob.

But betting i differ on where “most people” would find enough generous love and acceptance.

In the mirror.

Love and acceptance is an inside job.

The Internet (or a library) offers unlimited learning. Somewhere along human evolution, we’ve neglected teaching our youth the power of the growth mindset and personal accountability for our mind, body, spirit, work, and home.

We shun this opportunity during public and private education.

And thus send generation after generation into adulthood, and parenting, only to perpetuate our current reality.

We may assume that we, ourselves, have also been sent into adulthood unprepared, because our parents were sent out unprepared.

As a misfit, i’m simply a dad that recognizes the much is and decided to break the chain.

In a perfect world, Son, you will be much better at this than i have been.
