In talking to a classmate Jon at the reunion, he concisely summarized what a great pastor aims to do – “he fed us but we left hungry”. Hoping yesterday’s invocation post has some classmates, Guests, and even staff, thinking about our broken promises to ourselves.

Fellow classmates, guests, staff, and those gathered here only in spirit… what a rare privilege to have this time together.
Tonight, there’s one harsh reality, one astonishing paradox, three awesome blessings, and a personal challenge:
The harsh reality is – time and opportunity wait for no one.
The astonishing paradox? We should slow down, take our time and enjoy life… but hurry, don’t wait!!
Three awesome blessings…
First. Our reunion organizers… we wouldn’t be here tonight without them. Seriously. We wouldn’t.
Second, the fact that WE made it a priority, to gather together.
Third, the rare privilege for the first two blessings to converge, allowing the great Spring Grove High school – Class of 1977 to spend a few precious hours in fellowship, food and fun.
And finally, a personal challenge… tomorrow, remember all those things we’ve been promising ourselves? We should do them.
Let us bow our heads.
Dear Heavenly Father, bless each and everyone of us as we give thanks for the food you provide and the bond we all share.

Dear fellow classmates, Guests, staff, and all those not with us tonight…
What an honor, and privilege, for us all to be gathered here this evening.
First and foremost, a very grateful thank you to our reunion organizers. We wouldn’t be here without them. Seriously, we wouldn’t.
Second, there are classmates who aren’t here with us:
– distance, time, cost
– hardships, pain, death
If we could bow our heads for a moment, in silence, and pray or think good intentions for them.
Let us remember them in our hearts.
And for all our classmates, those present here and those not, who’ve have or are experiencing overflowing blessings, let us be humbled by our Creator’s goodness, grace, and mercy.
The fact we are here, together, in a free Country, with luxuries many never experience, may we be ever mindful that life itself, and the companionship of friends and family, is the greatest blessing for which we can barely comprehend. May we be genuinely grateful. Always.
And finally, let us bless the opportunity before us, the food that sustains us, the conversations that will flow, and the hopes and dreams of each person… be held in high regard.
