Public recognition is not for everyone and even painful for some

Patience is strength.

Gratitude is strength.

Forgiveness is strength.

Had only two things to say to the wonderful folks attending the surprise celebration.

  1. I don’t know what to say.

  2. Thank you.

Most of us are in a different place than we were 15 years ago.

For a blessed number, it’s a much more servant-focused place.

A place they never saw coming.

A place they could have never foreseen.

A good and decent place.

Is this bad?

Young boy on annual Summer trip to Sanibel Island

Did you exercise this morning?

Yesterday morning?

Day before that?

After yesterdays run, an important phone call.

Turned out to be extraordinary.

Have been feeling an unjustifiable guilt for not accepting an offer to help some folks.

On the call, without trying or knowing, turns out a neutral party totally gets it.

Without going into details it was…

Amazing.

Grace.

A tree does not grow overnight

Inside view of Allen's Creamery in Windermere, FL

(photo: A 55-year old Master’s athlete and a 13-year old just beginning to explore exercise)

It was 6.3 miles one way. After cooling down, we ate a small breakfast, visited the Windermere Library for old times sake, and then began a challenging ride home.

Later that evening, the Mom told the dad, “It’s really great that you are doing this with him”.

What began softly and quietly a few months prior (for a NYC school trip with lots of walking), is continuing.

A tree does not grow overnight. But it does grow.
