Can we be a Christian and claim hopelessness?

Seems hypocritical, to my ear anyway.

Christianity is implicitly designed to be the antidote.

If we don’t feel close to God, guess who moved?

Right?

Or am I missing something?

Another scary thought is how much spiritual exercise we give ourselves

 

Our spirit is very important, no?

And like a muscle, needs regular use to remain functional.

A passive spirit, like a passive muscle, does not strengthen.

To get stronger requires strength training – doing things that challenge and tear down our spirit.

Only then does our spirit strengthen.

We know this.

Do we find excuses for not going to the spiritual gym?

Chickened out on my mission at Church yesterday.

But only because he was holding a paper plate full of breakfast goodies.

Compromised with a short, heartfelt compliment that’s been gnawing at me to deliver.

So instead of actually doing it, I just described to Father Ennis what I’ve been feeling compelled to do for long time.

I mean what would you do if you suddenly found yourself in Jesus’ presence?
