You are in charge of your joy

Two Dog Flats
Summer 2018. Our most frequently used restaurant inside Glacier National Park.

You are in charge of your joy.

Find a million ways to attract it with little to no effort.

If you think you can or you think you cannot, you are right.

Can you articulate your foundational values?

family values
In the moment we were asked to list our values. Few people can write theirs immediately.

Can you articulate your foundational values?

  • Honesty
  • Behave admirably
  • Personal responsibility
  • Self-control
  • Initiative
  • Fun

These are the six values i’ve used to teach, coach, and develop our son. Clarity is power.

What are yours?

There, see what i mean?

Clarity is power.

Focus on the lesson, not the emotion

willing to fail
Willing to fail? Heck yeah.

Focus on what you learned, not how emotional the learning was.

If you focus on the perceived pain you felt by not knowing better from the start, you miss the joy experienced from learning an insightful lesson.

Tailgater grace

Disney University
Yesterday. Joy to the world is so appropriate. Every day. All day.

Tailgater grace?

Yes.

On the two-lane road behind Disney University, a driver began tailgating my car.

Younger versions of me had varying degrees of impatience, anger, retaliation, etc.

Those pangs are still mildly felt occasionally.

They surfaced for an instant yesterday and in an instant, they evaporated.

Pulled into the subdivision right-hand turning lane and let the tailgater pass.

Eased back onto the highway and life was instantly peaceful again.

Live for today, plan for the future

Many Glacier 1911
Many Glacier in 1911, before the Hotel was built.

i do not regret visiting Glacier National park five times this (2018) Summer.

And even though my “life contract” expires June 8, 2019, i am celebrating by planning to spend Summer 2019 at Glacier.
