The right mixture of guilt and hope?

Yesterday’s Mass, and Gospel reading, led to an epiphany.

My teaching style is a mixture of guilt and hope.

The Gospel reading and the Homily from Father John – it was a perfect mashup of ideas and revelations.

Father John, intentionally or as a blind spot, uses consistent references of His congregation’s (and humanity in general) lack of proper behaviors.

It reminded me to contemplate my writing and speaking.

i don’t like the style of Father John’s digs – they seem (to me) to lack a loving embrace.

And yet, there are many times when he gives me such hope.

On the final night in Mom’s apartment

Granite Park Chalet
No, it’s not a Church, but Granite Park Chalet can easily pass as a place of worship.

On the final night in Mom’s apartment:

  • Watched the Hallmark Channel (her favorite)
  • All the Hallmark movies are celebrating Christmas
  • Watched from her chair (her non-negotiable spot, which was also her bed)

Sounds simple and unremarkable – the perfect ending to our last visit together.

Thank a Veteran (thank all Veterans)

A long video (8 mins) and i’m not recommending you watch it. Including it only for those so inclined. In 30 days, this will go live on December 10. As i write this – on Veterans Day November 10 – most are decently aware.

But in 30 days, we’ll have too many distractions to spend much time thinking about our Freedom and how it’s earned, and who earns it for us.

Thank a Veteran for the freedom you enjoy.

Thank all the Veterans.

For all the Freedoms.

Freedoms so vast, we take them for granted.

Update Dec 10, 5:50am: Watched the video a month ago when i wrote this post. Watched again just now. Also watched the two videos on the right column (laptop view) (on a phone those two videos are near the very bottom).

Happy present moment

A few weeks ago in Glacier National Park.

Happy present moment.

May you never have another moment of anger for the rest of your life.

Be present.

Be thankful.

Be grateful.

Right now.

And in a minute.

And in every moment, be present and thankful.

Exercise and gratitude love each other

iPhone photo app
Only 21 photos of the thousand or so from an 8-day trip. Photos and blessings – they are more alike than unalike.

Feeling so blessed to have:

  • A flexible Family
  • A habitually creative mindset
  • A health goal worth defending
  • The blessing of a temple (body) housing everything keeping me alive

In spite of life’s constant deluge of things to do, exercise never gets put on the back burner for long.
