Goucher’s building is centered on love, not religion.

Forgot to mention yesterday that the executive team dinner after the all-day pep-rally was held down by the river at a local steakhouse.

The client requested a 20-25 minute speech on leadership.

Afterwards, when the food arrived, we began with a prayer.

i thanked the entire group for being only the second organization that has ever done that in front of me.

The church marriage video only captured same-sex marriages

Yesterday afternoon we played Magic: The Gathering card game.

 

At 8:45AM Mass yesterday, Chapin and i sat a few rows back from the front and center. We normally sit in the last row, far left.

Five minutes before Mass began, the lights dimmed with no announcement and a five-minute Marriage video began playing on the large wall.

The church marriage video only captured same-sex marriages.

Afterward, i leaned over and whispered to Chapin, “There were only same-sex couples.”

Can you imagine Jesus telling two people (of any combination) who love each other they shouldn’t spend their lives together in an official (commitment) union?

Seriously.

Can you?

To have Churches near your home…

To have a vehicle (car, bike, walk, Uber) to get to Church…

To have a basic comprehension that the world is bigger than ourselves…

To have a common sense understanding that humans are social and emotional creatures…

To be fully aware that we are perfectly imperfect…

To know all this and more…

And we aren’t a regular at a Church (or similar) community.

Nature will be our Church this Saturday morning.

An hour walk.

With one of September’s travel companions.

PS. Update since writing this two hours ago – we both biked to the Church and then i biked a couple miles back to his house (to keep the conversation going) after our walk.

What Church do you go to?

Church is metaphorical for community.

Something was missing in our lives.

In 1999, after 15 years in Orlando – including full-time careers at Disney – something was missing.

i felt what was missing could be found in a Church community.

Told Cheryl, “You’re more Catholic than i am Luthern, and i don’t think God cares, so i’ll turn Catholic.”

After 18 months of official RCIA training, i was confirmed.

Never knew the comforting power of a sense of community, but intuitively i knew it would be better than not having a sense of community.
