You were born to give

Typo. No one is perfect. If Disney Ran Your Life….

Yet another debt of honor for which there can be no fulfilled repayment.

Only repay what you are able for as long as you are able.

All of the following are verbs:

Give.

Serve.

Surrender.

Breath.

Hope.

Love.

Write.

Today, when this goes live, the 12th consecutive year of writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts begins. Yesterday concluded, obviously, the 11th year without missing a single day.

In the giving, you receive.

Speaking from 11 years of writing experience.

Give for pleasure

Doing a repetitive job as our main focus is boring, eventually, and rather quickly, actually. At Disney we capitalize on the discretionary efforts of every employee – making others happy by going the extra-inch makes the giver happy too.

Give for pleasure. When i teach about going the extra inch to exceed customer expectations, it can, and if it suits you should, be done selfishly for pleasure.

At the end of the day, employees should have no option except this one – to deliver the wow-factor.

What is generous, is for an individual as CEO of You Inc, to pick from whatever lights your motivational fire.

Motivated to do it for altruistic reasons? Perfect.

Motivated because in the giving you receive? Great.

Motivated simply for the pleasure it brings you? Wonderful.

Serve so others benefit, especially yourself.

Spiritual enlightenment from a one-sentence blog comment?

A bug's life closeup photo
A bug’s life is a constant need to stay alive (at least until propagation has been completed)

In the giving, receiving.

In the receiving, change.

In change, growth.

In growth, peace.

Spiritual enlightenment from a one-sentence blog comment?

The first sentence was a spontaneous blog comment reply.

Then in a flash, the second sentence. Then the third, etc.

Then the enlightenment – a trusted path to peace.

A cup of coffee or $50 grand?

The conversation between the executive and the line worker yesterday entered the philosophical realms of what is worth more.

Mailing a $50,000 donation check to charity or being the volunteer to hand the fresh cup of coffee to the homeless woman.

Being close enough to deliver, appreciate, and receive immediate joy in her face?

Or…

Visualizing from your living room how many people’s lives are changed from your massive donation.

Tough call.

I propose we should know our answer intimately.
