A party of three (us) had to split up to ride the free Glacier National Park shuttle to Logan Pass from The Loop.

Unlikely we depart at the same time from Earth.

And?

Well, this means one of us will undoubtedly live without the other.

i pray it’s us parents that dies first because no child should die before their parents.

This is a fact of life, but it doesn’t have to be a burden.

i use this reality to be present each day.

Kowing i am going to die one day inspires me to be present.

i do not want to wait until it’s too late to start living.

Growth spurt

Last night, returning from fetching this morning’s drinking and cooking water.

Glacier National Park twilight — We stood here reflecting on the past 24-hour growth spurt. Remarkable progress.

Growth spurts can happen at any time.

Like the past 24 hours.

The phrase honeymoon-effect became a well-known slogan because there’s a human tendency to start strong but maintaining that early enthusiasm and even improving upon that strong enthusiasm is challenging because our enthusiasm consistently needs tending.

Enthusiasm has no auto-pilot.

An apparent hiker suicide a week ago closed off Glacier’s most popular trail the day we planned to use it. We hiked an alternative trail. Yesterday, search and rescue teams were transported back to town.

Redwood Sunday

Redwood Sunday.

Same-age cousin Redwood joins us today from California.

It’s also Sunday.

From the airport, we have a long, and glorious trek to the Eastside. The challenge is the time of day and the day. Peak tourist season, and, it’s a Sunday.

Yesterday Glacier had a 10-mile traffic backup because of distracted drivers.
