The three of us made incredible Hurricane Milton cleanup progress yesterday. A small but mighty congregation of three. No matter where, or why, we show up.

Our yard, like i’ve always said, is our ‘church’.

We survived Milton, spirit

Hurricane forecast
Bottom row: 2:00 AM update. Sustained winds down to 90-mph .

Every 60-90 minutes the wind’s deep howl woke me. Each time it did i’d check Milton’s status.

The photo above shows Milton’s 2:00 AM status is south, and now, east of us. Sustained winds 90mph.

Note, this is not a video. It’s a screen shot. What is a bigger concern, the potentially-most intense hurricane ever, or potentially getting blown off the map?

Nearing 8:00 PM October 9, we are enjoying our second consecutive lobster tail dinner.

The rain has been steady all day. Relatively light. However, the ground is already saturated. So what we already have before the arrival of major rainfall is yard flooding.

Flooding may cover our road. Told our son we’ve never seen it but it was close in 2004 when we had three hurricanes in one month: Charlie, Francis, Jeanne.

Hurricane Milton news brief
Sustained, 180 mph.

First priority is vehicle prep. Gas, tire pressure, oil.

The gas-station lines are overwhelmed with semi-panicked people.

We have three cars.

One of them has a dead battery from lack of use. It is also in a location that the three of us had to push to get to a better battery charging scenario.
