The anxiety i feel at any given moment

Disney Creativity Speakers
Last night i had fun shooting a couple short videos for an International client. i set the bar high enough that i could reach it, but not so high i’d need professional help. Know your limits, yet if you can enjoy it, stretch yourself ever so slightly out of your comfort zone.

The anxiety i feel at any given moment is the combined results of how i think, how i nurture my physical and spiritual wellness, how i apply myself at work, and how organized i am at home.

All initial transformation efforts seem insurmountable because it involves so much change.

It’s overwhelming.

And like physical transformation, transforming our emotional IQ requires slow and steady application of the basics.

Practicing patience, kindness, generosity, forgiveness, compassion, faith, hope, thanksgiving…

Habits and rituals determine our mastery or misery.

Consistently attacked by a busy schedule?

Hang glider failure
On ABC Evening News with David Muir last night, a report of a tourist mishap during a Swiss Alps hang gliding flight.

Hang glider failure
The pilot failed to strap the tourist to the hang glider. It took a while until the pilot could land the aircraft. The tourist broke his wrist on the fall and tore his bicep – how he hung on for so long is a miracle. They were at heights that had he lost his grip he would have died. Was the pilot in a hurry?

The drive to do good is consistently attacked by the pressure and stress of a busy schedule.

It is infinitely easier to succumb to this daily pressure using the three main human go-to responses to reduce or eliminate the friction (pain).

Distraction, entertainment, and medication.

This becomes a habit quickly.

Be careful.

Better to fight it while the fire is small than after it has become a raging wildfire.

Disney University bike ride

Disney University classes
Yesterday’s bike ride to DU.

There’s foul language in America that gets classified as socially acceptable.

“That’s just the way it is.”

Rubbish.

Can you imagine Walt Disney saying that?

Can you imagine one of Walt Disney’s associates telling Walt Disney that?

You can see how with a certain mindset, the statement is absolutely rubbish.

Your mindset is hungry for positive karma.

You know this.

Have fun with it.

Habits make who you become and who you stay

Sheraton Baltimore North
On this Sunday morning, 1,000 miles away from home, we are not attending a church service.

Habits make who you become and who you stay.

What holds you back from starting every day in prayer?

And what, if anything, would allow this habit to succeed or not succeed?

All you have to do is spend one minute (or more), in some way (bended knees?), soon after you awake.

How hard is that?

Why aren’t you doing it?

Ps. Assuming you aren’t. i was born at night, but i wasn’t born last night.

Pss. Probably the biggest ROI for the 60 seconds you spend.

Habits define you

habits
Habits are either by design or by default.

Ever catch yourself examining other people’s behaviors and instantly liking or disliking certain attributes?

Do you believe that what we like and dislike is a reflection of our own daily behaviors?

Observing others is a great window into how we are perceived by others.

This is scary for the simple reason that the things we dislike in others – that’s what we are unknowingly projecting as well.

This is exciting because we have many positive blind spots. We become aware of the goodness we carry and project.

Our temptation is to downplay both.

“I’m not that annoying.”

“I’m not that wonderful.”
