Glacier checklists, day two.

Cheryl and i (or anyone), once decently acclimated after two weeks, can hike fast or slow.

i prefer a slow, controlled-breathing pace when hiking with others.

i prefer a faster, moderately-elevated-breathing pace when hiking alone.

Whether walking slow or fast, there will almost always be frequent stops for vistas, incredible scenic beauty, wildlife, photos, water/snack breaks.

Glacier checklists, spirit

Grinnell Glacier overlook
Grinnell Glacier overlook, August 2016. Dave was the first friend who joined me for a week. After three previous family summer visits, this fourth summer, Dave and i hiked Highline Trail for the first time ever, for both of us.

Glacier checklists.

There’s an emotional (spiritual) essence to this (2026) Summer’s visit.

i must balance two things, maybe three:

  1. The loving farewell tour in a place we’ve spent 500 nights.
  2. The obvious implication (assumption) that i need to be a tour guide during the third week. For the record, i dread this responsibility.
  3. Our super special friends arrive after we’ve been there two weeks. We will have our mountain legs and lungs. They will not. Not even close. How do i manage our semi-peak hiking fitness with 100% rookies, day 1?

This blogging stuff is like having a personal trainer, a personal coach, a therapist, physician, etc, etc.

i like LOVE it!

Post titles brainstorm list, spirit

One of the chronic ‘feels like work’ blogging challenges are the six daily blog administrative requirements (tasks). Then multiply this five times per day. So six admin tasks become 30 daily admin tasks. Every. Single. Day. And all this doesn’t even mention the part about writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts.

  1. Blog titles
  2. Blog categories
  3. Blog tag words
  4. Embedding hyperlinks
  5. Photo (and/or video) selection, alt text, and captions
  6. Blog scheduling

If there was a simple, scalable way to do those six things five times per day, wow…

Because the writing is the easy part for me.

Now, back to today’s blog post title:

Post titles brainstorm list, spirit”

  1. The seven summits, spirit
  2. Faith
  3. Hope
  4. Love
  5. Gratitude
  6. Forgiveness
  7. Surrender
  8. Motivation
  9. Your temple’s purpose, spirit
  10. Spiritual goals
  11. Spiritual motivation
  12. Spiritual structure
  13. Spiritual process
  14. Spiritual ambition
  15. Spiritual humility
  16. Spiritual reality
  17. Spiritual setbacks
  18. Spiritual fun
  19. Spiritual teamwork
  20. Spiritual joy

Asterisk moment

Grateful to be able to bend down to ground level.

Asterisk moment.

Mid Life Celebration’s post today made it sound like everyone can make an endless list of things to be grateful for.

It dawned on me that there might be a chance some of us could feel this isn’t true.

Celebrate everything

Disney Cast Member years of service celebration.

Seems ridiculously simple.

What?

Celebrating everything.

You know, being grateful and all of that.

Please make sure near the top of your list of celebratory things is you.
