Enlightenment comes and goes as it pleases. Often, excellent conditions are right in front of us, even though it seems distant or non-existent.

He thinks it’s easy, based on the way i explain it. So i need to find a better way to explain it.

Why?

Because it is anything but easy.

Simple, yes.

Easy? Not in a million years.

But the opportunities are dramatically better with hard work and perseverance.

Among the few sounds bites to re-explain it, i reminded him it took seven years before i made my first dime.

Dear Heavenly Father, please reign down humility

25+ year friends — Met Brian at My French Cafe near Disney University yesterday. He said a wonderful prayer for me, not knowing the burdens nor the triumphs.

Dear Heavenly Father, please reign down humility. i am astounded by Your generous blessings in the past three weeks. It is almost more than i can bear.

Dear readers, this does not mean i live in the absence of heavy, worrisome burdens. i do.

And i’d love an abundance of humility to graciously accept them both.

And to be abundantly thankful for both.

PS. Brian, in the photo, and i met 30 years ago when our dogs met for the first time in our sprawling neighborhood. The odds of us ever meeting were slim to none. Our Yellow Labs ended up contributing two litters to society.

The paradox of spontaneity and bliss

Halloween candy — Yesterday. Marketers are very intentional with color, timing, placement, etc. The harsh reality, they are selling sugar and corn syrup.

When everything we do becomes intentional we have arrived at a place of bliss.

Critics will ask, “What about spontaneity?”

The paradox with spontaneity is the harsh reality that it requires planning to be blissful.

If we intentionally manage our time, our joy, and our gratitude, freedom is literally in every breath we take. As is spontaneity.

Our other fail safe option is to indulge in mind altering, often addicting, substances/habits. Otherwise known as empty bliss.

The real blessings are modest

Life is full of disappointment. It is also full of the opposite.

We see what we want to see.

The real blessings are modest. They are introverts. Often, we don’t even know they are in the room with us.

i am so thankful that i can run. Period.

Competition is simply a motivational log to throw on the fire.

There are many more logs in the forest.
