Christmas grinch, stealing the Christmas spirit with UPS?

One item (a MacBook) was promised to be delivered in one day. Several others were promised in two days.

Carved out time to go to Apple Store to purchase MackBook. Get home and UPS delivers the original one. Carved out more time to drive it to Fed Ex to send it back – we don’t need two.

Items to arrive two days ago will be arriving (theoretically) today, after we depart for an eight day vacation.

Packages on the front porch for eight days?

Maybe.

So easy to be frustrated. But instead, so joyful. This Christmas is a Christmas of abundance.

An abundance of gratitude, peace, forgiveness, and joy.

Greater things than these?

Greater things than these?

That’s what Jesus said, “Greater things than these shall be done”.

This may be the time we could use some “greater things”.

i vow to do my part.

i may fail and look like a fool or zealot.

Would you die for someone you love more than anything in the world, like your child for example?

And would you change your mind based on their sexuality being LGBT and you had’t known before?

Dear Son, before you begin asking questions, may i challenge encourage you to read the book i wrote for you?

It pretty much covers the most important things i want you to know.

Wrote it as a back up in case something bad ever happens to me.

The stereotypical assumption is that they won’t

Dear Son, telling you last night how impressed i was from your honest and professional answers on the Youth Ministry survey was a great moment.

The biggest revelation was when you described “Youth Group” feeling more like “Bible Study” than a youth group.

Here’s to hoping your honest answers are well received.

The stereotypical assumption is that they won’t.

Here’s to us being wrong.

Dear Son, don’t let this temptation stop you

Parking lot
Qdoba’s parking lot is microscopic compared to the local Theme Park parking lots.

Dear Son, don’t let this temptation stop you.

Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from what you can.

Man outside of Qdoba last night: Hey buddy, I’m kinda homeless, can you spare anything?

Dad exiting with his dinner to go: Sorry, i don’t carry cash.

Man: Ok, thanks anyway.

Dad, walking to parking lot turns around and goes back to the man: Have you eaten dinner today?

Man: No.

Dad, explaining it’s a simple children’s chicken quesadilla meal, with chips and guac.

Man: I don’t want to take your dinner.

Dad: i can buy another one.

Man: Gratefully accepts the to-go bag, grabs his small backpack, and walks away.

Dad, returning to his car notices the cashier who rang up his meal – she was watching the whole thing go down.

She seemed surprised. And maybe a little heart warmed.

So what benefited two, actually had a ripple effect for a third.

Unintentional.

That’s how powerful actions are.

Intended or otherwise.
