There is no part of our journey for wasting

protocol
Retired our old American Flag yesterday. Only afterwards did i learn the flag should have been folded properly. Additionally, it is customary to say the Pledge of Allegiance or the National Anthem.

There is no part of our journey for wasting

In our youth and even as an older adult in our immaturity, we will inevitably waste time on things that had little to zero value.

A few of these “time-wasted” experiences are helpful.

They help us see how consistently doing good and decent daily habits and rituals propel us forward.

As Bob Dylan said, “He who is not busy being born, is busy dying.”

We did not rush the American Flag burning yesterday. While it isn’t called for, i kept my right hand over my heart until there was nothing left. This was time well wasted.

Facebook seemed so important a few minutes ago

The home next door had a film crew shooting a commercial for a local fence company. We talked about us working together.

A month later, i finally reached out to Rod, for an introduction to his Sales Director.

Worrying about keeping up on Facebook?

Don’t want to get left behind on Facebook and other people’s lives?

What about your own?

Your life.

Keeping up.

Falling behind.

Your endless capacity for maintaining a positive attitude?

Your dedication for doing the hard work to create and maintain vibrant health habits?

Your burning desire to live without hate, anger, greed as well as to lead with compassion, forgiveness, and generosity?

Your drive and determination to be the best in the world at what you do for a living?

Your tireless motivation to manage the paperwork of life at home?

Wow.

Facebook seemed so important a few minutes ago.

Time marches on

Christmas time
Christmas 2017, Allentown, PA.

Christmas time
Christmas, 2004, Walt Disney World.

Maybe a dozen Christmases separate the two photos.

Chapin, Katie, Tyler, and Carter (Pheasant in mouth) behind Magic Kingdom.

Cheryl and Chapin at Uncle Mike’s in Allentown a few days ago.

May all of them (and us) make 2018 their (our) best year ever.

Chapin is an 11th-grader at the High School closest to Magic Kingdom.

Katie is attending graduate school in New York City.

Tyler just finished Navy boot camp.

We buried Carter in 2010.

Time waits for no one.

Go.

Serve others to the best of your ability.

Too busy (and too tired) for Church

inspiring social media quote
Yesterday on social media. Can’t recall which. Might have been LinkedIn.

Too busy (and too tired) for Church.

To be honest (as teens say, tbh), every step we take can be “Church”.

The photo above reminds me of that.

To be grateful for your own smile is overlooked – why would we focus on it, it’s so easy to do and so frequent.

Why would we focus on the smile of another looking at us?

Why focus on another who’s smiling but not looking at us?

The answer seems so obvious to me at this stage of my life.

All those years (decades) of being oblivious to how gratitude is the source of so much power over the devil.

To which i say, “Better late than never.”

What makes time stand still for you?

Not far from home, during a morning run.

What makes time stand still for you?

Staring at the clouds?

Walking through a forest?

Reading a great book?

Holding hands with someone you love?
