Every day i awake with two wonderful desires.
A desire to savor the world and a desire to save the world.
This makes it hard to plan the day.

Aging.
Advantage or disadvantage?
In my (humble, hopefully) opinion, aging is an emotional blessing.
Hard stop.
(and the context is you’re living with a growth mindset)
The longer you live, the more you see what matters and what doesn’t.
When i was younger and trying to climb the work ladder, i was deeply, even obsessively, worried about what others thought of me.
Now?
Not a chance!
In hell. Not a snowball’s chance in hell!
Time (aka aging) is a remarkable teacher, coach, mentor, friend.
Aging is cool.
Happy present moment.

Dear Son, to me, blogging’s hidden blessing is its love for the writer.
Dear Son, loving yourself first teaches you how to love others.
Dear Son, teaching yourself first teaches you how to teach others.
Dear Son, forgiving yourself first teaches you how to forgive others.
Dear Son, being patient with yourself first teaches you how to be patient with others.
Dear Son, caring for your emotional health first, well, it teaches you how to care for others.
Dear Son, serving yourself first teaches you how to serve others.

One day it will.
Will what?
One day will come.
And it reminds me of a Garth Brooks song…
If Tomorrow Never Comes (wikipedia’s song summary). By the way, Garth calls this his signature song. It was his first hit single off his 1989 debut album. In 1991, it earned Country Music’s “Single of the Year” honors.
Chapin, on this day, April 11, 2026, if tomorrow never comes, you absolutely need to know this…
This song is one of my all-time favorite love songs. It has guided me since 1989 with a simple mantra to remind me how lucky i am to love and be loved by Mom and You. You can listen to the You Tube “live” version here.
Years ago Garth took his music off all the music streaming platforms. He opted to sell his music directly to listeners. No middle-person. That’s why this one You Tube clip is so special.

The thing about everything is that everything takes longer than you plan.
Noteworthy, there’s an exception to nearly every rule.
Exceptions are rare.
We plan to be patient, forgiving, faithful.
Easy to plan for it when you haven’t been tested incessantly for decades.
And yes the tests last a lifetime, as far as i can discern from nearly seven decades here.
The goal for peace with who i am and being content with what i have isn’t a deathbed hope. It’s a hope, goal, and reality, daily.
Now.
Today.
Daily.
Until i die, whenever that may be.
It may take longer than i plan.
