The one unsolicited phone call I still thank God for?

balance
life is one great big balancing act

The one unsolicited phone call I still thank God for? The one in which the caller wanted to schedule a meeting with the then Director of a world class teaching organization. Fall, 1998.

Who? What? Why? A meeting with Steve Heise? “I have no idea what you’re talking about”, I told the caller.

Funny how an unsolicited call, in the middle of a crazy-busy day can alter your life’s course. Funny in a good way.

Random religious thoughts and unanswered questions

volunteering
virtually everyone’s efforts to delver food for needy families goes unnoticed (and that’s ok)

Random religious thoughts? Unanswered questions? People who volunteer for spiritual organizations devote their time, talent, and treasure for the good of others.

These efforts go mostly unnoticed and unappreciated. A voice message last night reminded me. The caller said, “Your contact information is blank, which is strange because you’ve been serving for so long”.

He told his prayer group he is toxic

co-dependence
here’s the secret most ignore – everyone is fighting a hard battle – even the ones who smile a lot

He told his prayer group he’s toxic, when they mentioned they hadn’t seen him in awhile.

He says he stays away because of his toxicity. All I could think was, what is he doing about his toxicity?

I’ll drink to “You’re gonna miss this”

Last night on the radio driving home from school, back to back songs that provided a HUGE pause-and-reflect moment…

All those things we complain about, and want to hurry to leave behind… we’re gonna miss them..

All you gotta do is put a drink in my hand… used to could…

One thing I will not miss? Having a drink in my hand (all the time).

Sure, I’ve missed it. My last drink was December 30, 2001. New Years Eve 2001 was dry, dry, dry.

We are actually given too much of this good thing every single day

prayer room
if each day were a room, the prayers and blessings we have access to would look like this

We are actually given too much of this good thing every single day – that each of our daily actions holds a prayer. Ah yes, if we would only be present long enough to remember this. Perhaps our days would give us everything we need, and then some.
