Three-hour drive from Logan pass to West Glacier Motel.

Arrive at 7:30pm.

West Glacier Motel…1 bed, 1 desk, 1 chair, 1 small bathroom.

Hot water.

Electricity.

Heat.

Perfect.

First time in 45 years staying outside Glacier National Park boundaries.

You can see the entrance sign from the Motel.

Closest i’ve ever been to the airport for a 6am wheels up.

College buddy and his wife were visiting on a separate vacation – we met up at Glacier Park Lodge at 7:30am yesterday. They drove over from Whitefish.

Yesterday’s (and this morning’s) weather is unseasonably cold.

The great news is the region is desperate for rain to combat multiple fires.

As i type this (and you’ll see tomorrow), there is snow on every peak around. Today is August 27, not January 27.

The final week of August leading into Labor Day weekend is one of the season’s busiest. That’s me waving in the rental car.

It’s a big reason yesterday began the fourth Glacier National Park visit this Summer (2018).
