On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Forgiveness is a full-time job. There really isn’t room for situational forgiveness.
My goal in public speaking is to help others .think .differently
It is not to force change.
Change can only come from within. You must be committed to it or it will never happen.
Never as in never ever.
My job is to get people to a place where they do one of two things:
Feel convicted that they are on the right path.
Feel compelled to consider things they have never been exposed to before.
i forgave the Chief Relationship Officer for his direct confrontation. Additionally, i pray for him that whatever emotions he carries will be good, decent, and noble – and that it will bring him and those he loves and serves, joy.
Was going to delete the comment yesterday when i had a change of heart. Respecting diverse opinions should never be a theory, so i’m keeping the comment public.
Today is the third Sunday of Advent.

He retired at 52 this past Summer. Chip, the father of our son’s Sunday School friend, responded to two (separate) local Police Officer murders.
A suicidal young couple that killed a Windermere Police officer before taking their own lives.
Plus, in a separate incident, two teens at the new LA Fitness construction site where another Windermere Police Officer was checking out their suspicious behavior at 4am – one of the teens fatally shot the officer.
Chip was a fire fighter for 25 years. He’s 52. We occasionally see each other at the gym. We haven’t seen each other since i retired 14 months ago. i chose not to mention i too am retired. Being retired is a major life milestone. But it pales in comparison to the dreams he has at night from those emergency responder calls.

What follows are photos i took with my iPhone while using Google to understand the reputation and character of someone i had just met. In a busy, pressure-filed world, i knew if i didn’t create a post like this (research notes if you will), i’d probably lose the essence from Google’s treasure trove.
No expectation that anyone reads the text in the photos; however, it does paint an interesting picture.

Yesterday a friend lost his dad to cancer. The dad was in his 80’s and lived a good life.
Some sorrowful (even regretful) posts surfaced on Facebook. This led to hours of personal reflection on, “why is death earmarked for sadness, loss, and pain”?
i mean, why are those things common when the person is 70, 80, even 90+?
In all those decades, haven’t mountains of good memories accumulated?
i can’t help but wonder why we don’t embrace death as the beginning of something else, and, as the final scene in a wonderful movie.
Should Can joy replace sorrow?
